'URGE 2 MERGE' WAS INSPIRED BY TRADITIONAL JAPANESE SILK SCREEN PAINTINGS AND WOODBLOCK PRINTS FROM THE 'EDO' (FLOATING WORLD) PERIOD. THE TIGERS DEPICTED HERE ARE BOUND BY AN URGE FOR PROCREATION AND HAVE BEEN REALISED BY A TECHNIQUE THAT USES A PIPETTE TO DRAW INK INTO ITS TUBE, WHICH IS THEN SQUEEZED OUT, ALLOWING THE INK TO FLOW AND FORM THE IMAGE OF THE TIGERS WITHIN A CHARCOAL OUTLINE.
GOLD AND SILVER INKS COMBINED WITH OTHER INDIAN DRAWING INKS WERE USED WITH WATER AS AN ACTIVE MEDIUM THAT DETERMINED THE REALISATION OF THIS WORK. THE OVERALL EFFECT IS THAT OF MOLTEN METALS FORGED BY THE FUSION AND SPRIT OF THE WORK.
