'Spiritual' is a response to a dance work created by Trina Parks (noted James Bond character and Alvin Ailey dancer) called "A Black & Brown Anthology". The painting embodies an American Historic symbolism evoking a dynamic movement suggestive of the drama expressed within the choreography of the dance.
